Re: Better nozzle with auto change?

Does this nozzle style have any kind of z-max sensor?

The one on the Juki nozzles is a real pain, so I'm interested in switching to a different style if it has that and might work better.

Re: some camera advice/findings

White light also has the advantage of being able to apply color filters e.g. to eliminate green needle shades (JUKI nozzles) from picture during processing. Hey Malte, have you had any luck with this? I've found it very difficult to do. Although the Juki nozzle shade is very pure green it is also v...

Re: comercial cut tape strip holder.

I'm not sure these would work without manual setup: Some paper tapes (resistors and capacitors) are mechanically rather weak. Unless the parts are supported from below, probing would push some parts through the bottom paper. You would need to manually set pickup heights. On the other hand, looks li...

Re: BGA vision/placement demo

...Can you comment on your magnetic nozzle-changer?.. No problems with the magnetism though. Then I developed the plastic changer prototype published in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2yi8mou9qAc - it worked pretty well, Yeah, that's the one I wanted to know about. Very glad to hear it...

Re: BGA vision/placement demo

So I finally converted back to a Juha/Karl style off-axis 0.9-degree stepper with 160:360 gearing to the axis. WOW the results are amazing. I use the balls on the bottom of the BGA (fit a line to each column, average the slopes of the lines) to determine the rotation angle of the part, so the angle ...

Re: A-axis thermal runaway

If anyone knows of any other boards with 4 or 5 of these more advanced drivers, let me know! I'm designing a board with an L6470 and an ATTiny48 that you mount on or near the motor... string them together on an SPI+Vmot+GND chain for multiple motors.... but it's pretty far down on my priority list ...

Re: concentric non-captive shafts for Z+A axes?

Radial play will be the most troublesome to detect and counteract in such arrangement. Random tilt of the core shaft is unavoidable and unpredictable. Yes, but a steel spring like the one on the liteplacer will at least force the tilt to be consistent -- always the same amount at a given rotation. ...

Re: concentric non-captive shafts for Z+A axes?

Here's a coaxial Z-Theta actuator I like better: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TueUrVKbzho Kirill, thank you so much for posting this! This is by far the closest thing I've come across to what I have in mind. And it is much more elegant than my approach. The video does not show many details (desp...

Re: some camera advice/findings

I think the major influencing factors were (in order of importance): 1. First CCDs were mostly sensitive to red (decades ago) 2. First LEDs were implemented in red 3. Ambient lighting spectrum (fluorescent and sodium) was mostly green/yellow 4. Monochromatic light was used because of color aberrati...
