Thanks, sounds reasonable, but why isn't this a problem for the Z-axis?

Re: Placement of integrated circuits

About 0.9deg hollow shaft steppers - you can get, actually quite easy. If it's so easy, post a link to where they are advertised for sale. I'd be happy to be wrong here. But I spent a long long time googling for them with no success... So if you need 1..2pcs I can sell you and send by post I apprec...

Re: Better nozzle with auto change?

Well, they put in on a panel, which means it can't be obviously rejectable. The fab still has final say (OSHpark is just an aggregator) but in practice they have a pretty low false-positive rate since one rejected board means delays for all the customers on that panel, which is no bueno. panelized.p...

Re: Better nozzle with auto change?

This little board has been made without any extra cost by my PCB manufacturer Unfortunately any board that fits into the nozzle shaft would have a maximum dimension of less than 1/3rd of the board you show. I mean we're talking really, really, really tiny here. I'll take exact measurements as soon ...

Re: Better nozzle with auto change?

Unfortunately that won't work... commodity PCB fabs have minimum board size requirements that are much, much larger than anything that could possibly fit inside the nozzle holder. Any PCB fab that can make a board that tiny will charge a major premium for it. Hrm, now that I think about it, I wonde...

Re: Better nozzle with auto change?

The coils could probably be done on a tiny PCB that gets embedded into the nozzle holder. Re: An interesting video: Jon Oxer and his p&p machine

Hi Manfred, All these approach have one downside in common though: They don't have integrated height probing (or not yet). Malte, could you please explain why you think height probing is necessary? It is not strictly necessary , but it is very very very very helpful and useful. I used to have it, a...

I definitely recommend putting heatsinks on it sooner rather than later.

what are the disadvantages of a one-plate gantry?

Hi, I've located a shop in the US that will laser-cut small runs of steel at a reasonable price, and I'd like to start customizing my Liteplacer. Big thanks to Juha for being willing to make the DXF's available. Aside: they can only cut 1.0mm steel, not 1.5mm -- but for the low-force plates in the g...
