Re: Do I need a 3D printer?

No 3D printer is required. A lot of folks using LitePlacers are do-it-yourself type folks, so they often have a 3D printer. The only thing I've used my 3D printer for related to the LitePlacer was making component tape holders.

Re: Attempt to move while nozzle is down

I had a similar issue when my pickup tube wasn't free enough. When the pickup head makes contact with table it pushes down until the limit switch triggers, and then backs off. The backing off should cause the limit switch to untrigger. If the pickup tube is sticky the limit switch will trigger when ...

Re: Sometimes vacuum pump doesn't start

This a known bug with the latest of the software that is being investigated. I imagine a new version of the software will be available soon! As a workaround, if you toggle the pump on switch so that the pump is turned on, the software will correctly turn off and on the vaccum pump for the rest of th...

Placing 0402 Components (It Definitely Works)

Normally I don't go below 0603 conponent size on my boards, but due to a design issue I suddenly needed to add a whole bunch of 1000pF capacitors in an area that was pretty much full, which meant I had to use some 0402s. The Liteplacer definitely can place them, however, it needs to have the Camera ...

Rotation Impacting Placement Accuracy

I've had my Liteplacer up and running for a few weeks now. Since I'm doing final testing before I put a board into low volumne production I haven't been too worried about the placement accuracy I've had. What I noticed was that some components would be placed perfectly fine, and some components woul...

Re: Pictures of Cable Chain to Cable Chain Routing

Here's a video of the first board I placed to test things out. It didn't have fiducials, so I used a couple pads of components. That worked while dry placing conponents during testing, but once I pasted the board it couldn't find the pads anymore, and the pads themselves weren't as accurately define...

Re: Pictures of Cable Chain to Cable Chain Routing

Here's a picture of my work area layout. It's slightly wasteful space wise, but I'm reasonably content with it for now. I have about 4 more components to attach to the table before I can run the PCB that is positioned. I've found that as you add a component to the table it is the best time to do a d...

Re: Pictures of Cable Chain to Cable Chain Routing

Here's what I ended up doing for the X to Y axis. Any other routing and it would limit the travel enough that you couldn't adjust the limit switch enough to prevent it crashing into the wires. 20180628_224057-1024x576.jpg 20180628_224134-1024x576.jpg Here's the routing for the head. 20180628_224128-...

Re: Some footprint always have a shift

Is the peice of paper with the image of the circuit board completely flat? I was running the Hello World job last night to get used to the software and found that since one corner of the paper was slightly curled up, the fiducial in that area was in a slightly wrong X location. This in turn impacts ...
