Re: Another idea for parts recognition

Where is the advantage vs black cardboard or black foam mat? Thinking of the reflexion of the down light on the glass surface you will get bright spots that run your elsewise perfect black hole. I am currently testing an other approach having the parts on the white desk top. Then using edge detectio...

Re: Connection adapter for samsung nozzle adapter to 5mm ste

Hello Mike, I gave up my plan to expand the liteplacer to 4 heads. :( Not because of the adapter but because of the overall cost (money and craftsmanship) for vacuum valves and stepper controller plus software (I would have needed to control 6 steppers). Due to the fact that my projects demands to p...

Re: Tape Strip Holders

The bottom side of many tapes is not very strong, the full weight of the pickup tube can easily push a resistor through it. With feeders or strip holders you want to set it so, that the tip only touches, not pressing. I can only confirm Juhas words and add that many of the 5050 LEDs (monochrome and...

Re: FAQ:Machine footprint details

Well have a slightly different layout after I had some ugly crashes when I added the nozzle changer. I first placed the changer halfway down Y on the left side. I already had the camera hole at a position resembling the top of an equilateral triangle where the base line is a line from the center of ...

Re: cameras suck

Not only does the camera chip move it is also not looking in the tubes center direction but looks at a couple of degrees sideways!!! :o Therefore you get a very high / distance dependent center point. For a couple of Euros more you can get a HD Somikron camera. I bought mine from a german distributo...

Re: Downward Camea fixed to Z-axis?

Hy Mart, one of the most important calibrations is the pixel / mm ratio of both cameras. Due the the lens characteristics every mm distance can bring a change. Just try for yourself: Take a ruler, place it right on the table surface and let the video draw a grid. Measure the distance between the rul...

Re: Is up camera really needed?

Does that make sense? And does your code do that? Jason Yes, but as I wrote I will need to recalibrate the focal point and the pixel/mm ratio more carefully. As you are using Juki nozzles with the green ring and filter that green via HSV you probably get a nice black background. Using the semi mat ...

Re: Is up camera really needed?

Thank you Jason for your anwers. I think our discussion could be of interest to all, so I answer her in puplic. mawa, The biggest argument for bottom vision is that often after you pick a part it is in a different position on the nozzle than nominal due to nozzle "dance". This is when the ...

Is up camera really needed?

I would like to provoke a discussion about why there is a demand for an up camera based part alignment. The background: I have been working on a vision support based on the pipeline/stage concept of von Nieda (openpnp) which, btw. is a very ingenious and extremely flexible approach. I have succeeded...

Re: Camera gets cropped

Direct means directly on the mother board USB connectors at the rear of your PC. I get a difference when I use one of the front USB connectors because there probably is a hub to source them. A tip how to get more direct USBs: connect your mouse USB with one of those nice green adapters to the green ...
