Danal's Build, Part 4 - Major Progress

I've done a lot of things since my last post. The machine is moving and has one camera. Some, but not all, limit switches are wired and working. However, progress stopped due to some outside events, and so I didn't even post... anyway, here's current status. By the way, I'm posting a lot of detail p...

Danal's Build, Part 3 - More Foundation

I was unable to proceed with the build of the liteplacer itself due to some missing parts in the kit, so I worked a bit more on the foundation. One of my goals in wiring the liteplacer is to have every single wire in a removable attachment at one end (or both) of the wire. In other words, every wire...

Build Question: LED Rings

The wiring instructions indicate to run the LED rings from the 12V fan connection on the TinyG. Just to keep a little bit of heat off the TinyG board, can anyone foresee any issues if the LED rings are wired in series and run from 24V? I tried this for a few moments using a benchtop power supply and...

Re: Danal's Build, Part 2 - Unboxing

I laid the frame out in what will be the ultimate size to check if my choice of "table" was really going to work. The table is an Ikea "Linmon" tabletop, about 100x60 CM. Really two of them with lumber around the edges to create a hollow for all the electronics. The fit looks goo...

Danal's Build, Part 2 - Unboxing

Received the kit today. Mostly just unboxed and inventoried. Did a tiny bit of assembly.

Re: Danal's Build, part 1 - Before the kit arrives.

Oh by the way, the LitePlacer kit arrived this morning. For those in the USA, if you get a "Customs Exception" on a FedEx shipment, it turns out you need to contact "FedEx Trade Networks" (not FedEx Express). It took me two business days of calls to figure this out... but once I ...

Re: Danal's Build, part 1 - Before the kit arrives.

Mawa, Dampfboot, Thanks for the tips! I do plan to run a fan on the TInyG, and that is one reason for the somewhat high nylon standoffs. TinyG documentation states that the majority of the heat comes off the "bottom copper". I wanted plenty of space for airflow to these bottom copper pads....

Re: Danal's Build, part 1 - Before the kit arrives.

I also ordered some 3 conductor shielded cable (Limit Switches) and 4 conductor shielded cable (steppers). It seems like most people are going simpler than this... but the expense of this wire is very small and I want the machine to be rock solid. For anyone who hasn't worked on CNC (or other low vo...

Re: Danal's Build, part 1 - Before the kit arrives.

I thought I had a power supply... turned out it was 12V... so ordered this one: http://www.amazon.com/DMiotech%C2%AE-Power-Supply-Switching-Converter/dp/B018TG7I4W I realize it is rated 5A and JuKU recommends about 6. I plan to run fans in my 3 sided enclosure, we'll see if this works or if I need s...

Re: Danal's Build, part 1 - Before the kit arrives.

Here is the bottom with the feet, and a few detail shots. The white squares are hold-downs for Wire-Ties that will be used to strain relieve everything that attaches to a screw terminal on the TinyG.
