Re: Low precision SMD placement from tape query
1&2: Yes, that is the same pitch as the IC used in the “hello world” example. Please see http://www.liteplacer.com/running-a-job/ page, close to end. Also, see the project logs on http://hackaday.io/project/1755-liteplacer-a-low-cost-pick-and-place-machine . For a video showing IC placement, I w...

Re: Data sheet of Liteplacer
There is no formal data sheet. In the video, some of the error is due to resistors being loose in their pockets. About my views and development directions for small pitch parts, please see the beginning of the thread http://www.liteplacer.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=15 for starters. As for th...

Re: dtr, rts: These are hardware handshake settings. Neither of my computers need those, but they don't hurt. Maybe this is windows version dependent or g2 does this a bit or two differently. > There is some puzzling code in CNC.cs, when it sees "SYSTEM READY" it calls "Close()"....

Re: Add-ons: feeders
Btw, optical sensing of holes doesn't really work for transparent tapes. Actually, it does, the tape is not transparent enough. Here is what the camera sees: http://www.liteplacer.com/images/clear_tape_raw.jpg Zoom in, invert and set threshold: http://www.liteplacer.com/images/clear_tape_processed....

Yeah, I need to look at this - but on not this or next week, I'm afraid.

Re: Need help with development?
Thank you for the offer, greatly appreciated! Right now, I'm busy getting the kits prepared, so development is stalled for a week or two. And I doubt I would be tackling feeders next anyway, so if that interests you, go ahead!

Re: File format and samples wanted
No, Altium was the only one supported from the beginning (it is the system I use). But it does not make much sense to have a lowest cost pick and place machine available and support only one high cost CAD system.

That - or smaller versions of it - look something that would be very useful to have. Can we buy something like this somewhere?

Re: File format and samples wanted
KiCad support is now also added, with the following note: The current version of KiCad allows you to put spaces to component value. The KiCad generated .pos file is space separated, and the field width can change. These don't fit together, and will change in a future version of KiCad. So, spaces in ...

KiCad and DipTrace now supported
I consider the support still to be in beta, unless there are some reports of successful placements using these programs, although I've read in several test files successfully. Note to KiCad users: The current version of KiCad allows you to put spaces to component value. The KiCad generated .pos file...
