Location of Nozzle Changer

Post by mawa »

I first mounted the changer hardware on the far left rear side (close to X = 0 and Y = MaxY) just like shown on Juhas photos.

After some adjustment cycles I got the changer to work very well.
Yes, you have to push down far when picking the nozzle to insure a flush position of the nozzle otherwise you get some nasty bumping when you move the nozzle out from the slot and some nice X Axis crashes when you unmount the nozzle because the nozzle ring is too low and runs into the slot panel.

But occasionally after start up I had a nozzle still mounted I was uncareful and crashed when I attempted to mount an other nozzle.

So I decided to add a optional nozzle check first looking at the nozzle with the up cam, to see if a nozzle was attached. Then a scan with the down camera to inspect all nozzle changer slots if they contain a nozzle or not.

Therfore I moved and rotated the changer near to the X center and at the far Y to allow the down cam to look at the slots.

This position also has some other advantages:

The distance to change a nozzle is minimised. It's closer to the tape area.
The possibility to run into the changer when you are homing is less (When you home in Z Y X sequence)
The possibility to run into the changer when you are jogging is less.
best regards
